Mr. Lennart R. Freeman is Independent Director of the Company. Under his leadership, the North American Division tripled its sales and operating income and the International Division successfully completed a major restructuring, resulting in the sale of the South African business to Philip Morris International in 2009 and the merger of the Cigar and Pipe Tobacco business with Scandinavian Tobacco Group in 2010, creating the second largest cigar company in the world. Earlier in his career at Swedish Match, he served as Managing Director, Cricket Lighters and as President for the Cigarette Division. Following his retirement from Swedish Match in 2011 and until December 2014, he served as a director of the board of Dometic Group AB, a privatelyheld global provider of comfort products for the recreational vehicle, automotive and marine markets. Mr. L. Freeman has served as a director for Universal Corporation since 2013 and is a member of the Audit Committee, the Executive Committee and the Executive Compensation, Nominating and Corporationrationrate Governance Committee. Mr. L. Freeman is a wellrecognized tobacco industry veteran, receiving the Giant of the Industry Award which was presented by the California Distributors Association in October 2005 and the Captain of the Industry Award which was presented by the Pennsylvania Distributors Association in October 2000.
