Mr. Alex Gorsky is an Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Gorsky joined Johnson Johnson in 1988. In 2003, he was named company group chairman of the Johnson Johnson pharmaceutical business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mr. Gorsky left Johnson Johnson in 2004 to join the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporationrationration, where he served as head of the companys pharmaceutical business in North America. Mr. Gorsky returned to Johnson Johnson in 2008 as company group chairman for Ethicon. In early 2009, he was appointed worldwide chairman of the Surgical Care Group and member of the executive committee. In September 2009, he was appointed worldwide chairman of the Medical Devices and Diagnostics Group. Mr. Gorsky became vice chairman of the executive committee in January 2011. He was named chief executive officer and joined the board of directors in April 2012, and was named chairman in December 2012. Mr. Gorsky is a member of the Business Roundtables Board of Directors and Chairman of its Corporationrationrate Governance Committee. Mr. Gorsky also serves on the boards of the Travis Manion Foundation, Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, the National Academy Foundation and the Wharton Board of Overseers. since 2015.

International Business Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the International Business' board of directors comprises two types of representatives: International Business inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of International. The board's role is to monitor International Business' management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. International Business' inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects. On the other hand, International Business' outside directors are responsible for providing unbiased perspectives on the board's policies.
