Aven is also a member of the Board of the Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship Council of the government of the Russian Federation and a trustee of the Board of the Association for National Financial Reporting Standards. Since 1994, President of Alfa Bank 2007, Chairman of Russia Latvia Business Council. 2002 2008 member of the Supervisory board, JSC Latvijas balzams 1991 1992 Minister of Foreign Economic Relations for the Russian Federation. 1989 1991 senior researcher at the AllUnion Institute for Systems Studies at the USSR Academy of Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Moscow State University . He is the author of numerous scientific papers and articles on Economic. He is a professor at State University Higher School of Economics. He has received a number of international awards.

AS Latvijas balzams Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the AS Latvijas' board of directors comprises two types of representatives: AS Latvijas inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of UM9. The board's role is to monitor AS Latvijas' management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served.
