Mr. Ronald B. Richard is Lead Independent Director of the Company. Mr. Richard has served as the president and chief executive officer of the Cleveland Foundation, the nation oldest community foundation, since June 2003. From August 2002 to February 2003, Mr. Richard served as president of Stem Cell Preservation, Inc., a startup medical research company. After leaving Stem Cell Preservation and prior to joining our board of directors, Mr. Richard served as a strategic business advisor for IGEN International, Inc., a biotechnology company. Mr. Richard served as chief operating officer of InQTel, a VC fund that provides technologies to the Central Intelligence Agency, from March 2001 to August 2002. Prior to joining InQTel, Mr. Richard served in various senior management positions at Matsushita Electric, a consumer electronics company. Mr. Richard is a former U.S. foreign service officer. He served in OsakaKobe, Japan and as a desk officer for North Korean, Greek and Turkish affairs at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Mr. Richard previously served as chairman of the board of trustees of the International Biomedical Research Alliance, an academic joint venture among the NIH, Oxford University and Cambridge University since 2022.
